A large number of African states have faced conflicts within their borders in recent years or are even presently facing them. Many of these conflicts are closely related to failure of governance. Various aspects of the topic, such as ethnic/religious factors, bad governance and state failure or conflict prevention will be discussed in general and on country specific level. The workshop will have an academic focus, while a skills training on conflict analysis will add a practical notion to it.
All junior fellows are invited to the workshop which will take place from 1 to 5 April in Bonn, while 1-2 April serve as introduction workshop for the fellows newly selected in 2017 exclusively. The workshop will offer room for discussion with experts and political representatives. It also includes numerous internal network activities.
