Origins of AGGN

The AGGN was initiated in 2007 under the auspices of the German Federal President Horst Köhler. The network is managed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

By initiating the network, the DAAD wants to make a contribution to the broadening and deepening of academic collaboration between Africa and Germany and promote future change agents in the domain of Good Governance.

Since 2007, the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI) Freiburg is the academic partner of the program and organises workshops on behalf of the DAAD.

An overview about the activities of the network in the past year is presented in the AGGN yearbook 2016.
