The four-day workshop “Migration and the Role of the Diaspora” was held in Frankfurt as the second of four workshops in 2013. Its thematic focus is highly relevant to AGGN fellows, addressing migration not as a problem of international politics, but rather as offering chances primarily with regard to circular migration. Almost 20 fellows joined the meeting in Frankfurt for academic lectures, sharing of personal migrating experiences and visiting relevant organizations situated in Frankfurt. Among them was the GIZ Migration/Diaspora Program as well as the "Centrum für internationale Migration und Entwicklung (CIM)" which offers a "returning experts" program.
